The federal government uses many different approaches to interviewing. This section will help you understand these approaches and provide some practical tips on preparing for interviews.
Managers vary their interviewing techniques and processes to develop an understanding of you as a candidate for their position. The interview will depend on the type of position, as well as the information the manager needs to determine if you are the best âfitâ.
Interviews for students or interns may be, in many ways, no different from regular employment interviews. You may be asked about your long-term career goals, your interest in the position and the agency, and your long and short-term education plans. Be ready to discuss your current or previous courses and what you are learning.
